PRIMARY ELECTION JUNE 23, 2020
Iggy Terranova was born in Italy and immigrated to Astoria with his family when he was two years old. He attended P.S. 2, P.S. 85, J.H.S. 141, and the New York Military Academy.
After graduating, he went to work for the New York City Department of Sanitation, starting his career behind a garbage truck before being promoted to supervisor. For years as a supervisor, Iggy oversaw the operation of waste collection and snow removal for hundreds of workers.
For thirteen years, Iggy began work for the community affairs department, ensuring appropriate and effective service throughout the city. By working with elected officials, community boards, residents and other stakeholders he ensured streets were kept clean and New Yorkers were informed about new initiatives.
Iggy has been honored by the Mayor’s Office, New York State Senate, and numerous other civic and community organizations for his commitment to the city and its communities.
Iggy has spent the majority of his life living in Astoria, where he went to school, was an alter boy, and still calls it home today.
